Getting Started with Sync

Following intial setup is required before you sync your Outlook tasks to SymTasks on Android device first time -

  1. Enter a passcode in SymTasks on Android device and SymTasks Outlook Sync on your computer. On the Android device, this passcode is entered from SymTasks Settings screen.

On the computer, click on settings button in SymTasks Outlook Sync and enter the same passcode you entered on the Android device.
  2. Select the desired sync direction. On the computer, click on settings button in SymTasks Outlook Sync to select a sync direction.

  3. For more information on sync direction see Sync Options page.

Note: SymTasks syncs only the default Outlook Tasks folder (named "Tasks") under your default Outlook data file.

Wi-Fi Sync

Make sure your Android device and computer are connected to the same wireless network. Wi-Fi sync requires the following one time setup -

  1. Start Wi-Fi sync from SymTasks menu on your Android device. Note the IP address of the Android device in sync progress dialog
  2. Enter IP address of the Android device in SymTasks Outlook Sync settings on your computer. You will not need to enter IP address of the Android device again unless it changes.
  3. In SymTasks Outlook Sync on your computer select Wi-Fi connection method, if not already selected.

One Click Sync: Sync is designed for one click sync. After you have completed initial sync setup you can leave SymTasks Outlook Sync running on your computer (with Wi-Fi connection method selected). Just press Wi-Fi Sync in SymTasks on your Android device to sync your tasks. This allows you to sync even when you are away from your computer.

USB Sync

NOTE: We no longer support synchronization over USB connection. Recent versions of Android have made it more and more difficult for common users to enable and use USB debugging.

USB sync requires the following one time setup -

  1. On your Android device, USB debugging must be enabled. To turn on USB debugging press Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging on your Android device.
  2. On computer, you must have proper Android USB driver installed. After enabling USB debugging connect Android device to your computer on USB port. Windows should automatically detect and install the latest USB driver (if it is not installed already). See USB sync requirements for more information.
  3. In SymTasks Outlook Sync on your computer click USB connection method.
  4. Connect your Android device to your computer on USB port and start sync from SymTasks Outlook Sync on your computer.

One Click Sync: Sync is designed for one click sync. After you have completed initial sync setup just click Sync in SymTasks Outlook Sync on your computer to sync your tasks.
